No Stumping My Girl

I was chatting with my almost 2 year old today (okay, I was on the toilet, and was trying to keep her from climbing on the counter) and to keep her engaged, I began to quiz her.

What does a dog say?
Oof, oof!
What does a cat say?
Wee-ow!
What does a monkey say?
Ooh-ooh-ah-ah! (with fists tucked into arm pits)
What does a bear say?
Rrrrrrr.
What does a cow say?
Moon.
What does a pig say?
Honk.
What does a pirate say?
Arrrrrg!
What does Mommy say?
Stop that!

Nice. That Mommy is so much fun. I really want to hang out with Mommy, don't you? Bah.

Comments

Hahahahahaha!! I had a similar convo with my daughter long ago, where she told me that Mama says, "How many times do I have to tell you?!" Whoops.

My two year old puts her hands on her hips, taps her foot, and says, "That wasn't very nice. Now tell me you're SORRY!"

At least she ends the day by snuggling up and saying, "I'm sorry I called you a bad mommy, Mommy. You're such a good mommy." It's like she can't sleep until she's made her daily apologies.

When I hear my 5 y/o saying stuff to the 3 y/o that I know came from my mouth, it's pretty disturbing. So that's what I sound like??

haha, Im lucky.

The most my daughter seems to say so far is things to her baby sister, like "Are you alright sweety? Did that drink have bones in it? No no sweetie, you can't climb that" etc.

I remember once, what we were doing/saying at the time is gone, but it deserved one of those comments about "The pot calling the Kettle black" .. and my at the time 3 year old says "Pot. Kettle. Black." and walks off.

It's definitely amazing how much they pick up :)

Eep! My kids wander around mumbling: "N-O spells No!" Hey, at least they are learning how to spell...

Hinaus Herr Otto! Hinaus!

Otto is a cat, and he is also an escape artist. To get him out of the way when we open the door I yell (in german) OUT! Well, my 2 year old (going on 3) stepson likes to chase Mr. Otto around the house yelling Souse! Souse!

According to my 2 year old, Daddy says "Hi!!!" and Mummy says "haWOOOwano".
