Who You Callin' Easy?
I'm obsessed with my five year old's new Easy-Bake Oven.
Seriously.
Oh, admit it. You wanted one, too, when you were a kid, and either you had one and loved it (I hated you, you spoiled monkey-brat!) or you wanted one real bad, and your cousin had one and she mocked your ovenlessness.
My mom announced that she would be buying this coveted piece of plastic for my daughter, and I played it cool on the phone. My palms were sweating a little bit just thinking about it. (Whee!)
I could tell by my mom's breathless description that she had always wanted one, too. She even said something to the effect of "oh, well, if it's going to be a huge bother you can always have it be at MY house..." Yeah. Fat chance Grandma. Dibs! Mine mine mine, ahem, I mean, my daughter's "toy" should be at our house.
We just (I helped/micromanaged my daughter) baked a screamin' apple tart. We've made cakes, cookies, nasty mac-n-cheese, biscuits - I'm plotting already for the next round of goodies. I am dreaming in dolly-sized portions. I'm thinking about getting some extra pans so we can just keep that baby fired up all day and eat our little round whatevers as they come out. Hee!
Okay then. Whew.

God I wish I had a daughter so I'd have an excuse to buy one of those!! On second thought, don't they come in gray now for boys? :)

This brings back the horrid memories of wanting an Easy Bake Oven soooo bad and never getting one. Our friends down the street were lucky enough to get one, so my sister and I were among the "ovenless" bunch; frowned upon. Wah Wah!! :( Enjoy your time with the oven...better late than never! Ahem..btw...your daughter DOES get to bake too, right? lol :-)

If you Google "easy bake oven recipes," you'll come up with LOTS of sites, so you don't have to buy all the pre-made packets. And I also vaguely remember seeing somewhere that a bunch of superstar chefs made amazing things in it -- if I find it, I'll send you the link.

Had one! Naa-na-nana-na. My CoolGirl got an Original Chocolate Factory for Christmas this year. Yes, I was the first to use it. A teflon double-boiler so nothing, nothing, nothing sticks to it and all kinds of molds, sticks, pans. Yum.

The Hunter took his sister's and wouldn't let her have it back, not that she wanted it. He once cooked supper for the whole family just using that oven.

Guess where you can usually buy tiny little fancy pans for that oven? The hardware store! Run out there tomorrow and look; I found all kinds of adorable fancy cake pans, etc, there. Tiny shiny little pans. Oh, and absolutely MINIATURE little cookie cutters. You'll (I mean she'll) have a great time with it.

Oh yes. I covet the Easy-Bake Oven. I BURN for the Easy-Bake Oven... Almost as much as I burn for that Barbie Head. (Oh, Barbie Head, why must you forsake me? I promise not to cut all your hair off.)

My mother-in-law bought my 7 yr old son a "Real Meal" oven for Christmas. It is the boy version made by Easy Bake! A nice blue/gray color....not girly pink!! He (we) LOVE it!!
