Progress!
You can't see me right now, but I'm ringing an imaginary cowbell and doing a happy dance.
My youngest just went pee-pee on the paw-TAY! Pee-pee on the paw-TAY! Pee-pee on the paw-TAY!
Actually, though, the excitement is probably short-lived, but still! Something to show for the HOURS she has spent on the pot over the last week.
I wish I would have thought to introduce the Dora toilet seat long ago, (oh, wait, I did) because for some reason, my girl is perfectly content to spend half the day just sitting there. Remember how I was being held hostage, made to read books and sing songs and do a little soft-shoe number every time she said "Let's go pawdee?" I finally got tough.
"Babes, you sit here and peep. Mommy is going to go fold laundry." She didn't put up a fuss. And she just sat there. I stood in the hall outside the bathroom folding laundry and delivered it to assorted rooms. When she started si-in-in-ing at the top of her lungs, something about Dora and mermaids and toilet paper (said toll-let pay-pah) I figured I could load the dishwasher.
An hour later, she was still in there, happy as a lark. I kept asking, "Honey, do you want to get down? You want to play outside? You want a sandwich?" She agreed to the sandwich, but wanted it served on the toilet. Uh, no.
She'll clamber up on the toilet and if she sees me pass by the door, she'll wave a book at me, and yell "Hey, read this?" But she will seriously sit there for an hour or more, just chillin'
Dude. I loves me some potty training!
So, as it stands right now, she's logged probably 18 hours on the toilet, with exactly two peeps and an embossed red ring on her bum to show for it. I think she comes by it naturally, since her father loves to linger and read. I've never heard him sing, but you know, he might hum quietly.

Congrats on the new babysitter!
Lil peed on the potty yesterday as well. It was rather exciting and wild around here after that. She wouldn't do it until we put a prefold over the opening, though... so that was kinda weird. Hey, whatever floats your boat, kido.
Good times.

Say, my little one also wears the Potty Chair Ring of Honor on her behind, from sitting on there for hours. Better than T.V.!

Congrats - paw-TAY training your youngest is so exciting - I remember the day that I FINALLY could go past the diaper aisle in the grocery store and not think *gee are we almost out*. If I could do a back flip I think I might have.
Hoping that this is the start of a diaper-free house for you soon!

Anything that keeps a toddler in one place for more than 15 minutes is a good thing in my book!

What is it with men and taking FOREVER going to the bathroom. I swear, I just dont get it. Heck, if I am there for more than a minute my feet fall to sleep. And who wants to sit there with a dirty bottom or front bottom and read or do crosswords? I have never understood it!

WOO-HOO! We are in the midst of potty training the middle child at the moment. We are so loud and excited when she goes that our neighbors have complained :) Not really, but we certainly create a fuss. Congrats on the pee-pee! Now, on to the poo! :)
