Another? Why, Yes!
I cannot escape. I am unable to stop. I am owned.

Yes, shopping at Trader Joe's has brought me memorable eating binges before. Good-bye, entire container of meringue cookies. I hardly knew ye. Tub of dark chocolate dipped peppermint reception sticks? Only if the reception is IN MY FACE, and lasts as long as my fat little fingers can still manage to get the wrappers off after the sugar coma sets in.
My lack of control over the yummy snacks at Trader Joe's is really pathetic. I try to avoid the snacks, I do. Really.
But today, I shopped with the kids, and I bought all manner of dehydrated, fruity things and packaged crackery things, and bagged potatoey things and then I threw a package of little mochi ice creams into the cart.
Okay, I threw in four. There's only like 6 little dumplings in each box. They are funny, eentsy-weentsie, wee little babies, dolly sized portions. And, since no one else in my family likes them, my stash should last me for a few weeks.
Ha! Hahahahahaha!
I've got one box of 6 dumplings left. And I feel like I'm going to puke. I'm out of control. And I think I like it!

SISTA! I HAVE FOUND YOU!
Insert tearful family reunion scene while we hug and shove sugary goodness into our mouths behind each others backs... then realize we don't have to hide it and THEN weap openly while we fight over the last bit of fluff.

Put the mango ice creams down!
P.S. Is Elaine really your sister???

...sometimes I think my life is a "bagged potatoey thing", with extra salt...and a beer....and....crap, hand my one of those fruity things.

Those snacks will kill you won't they?! I have a hard time. My weakness isn't sweets, it's popcorn. I've cut snacks and sodas and lost 20 pounds in 2 months! Of course, I was pretty big but it's feels good anyway.

I *heart* Trader Joe's and am bitter that there isn't one closer to me than 2 hours dammit.
I've never had the things you're talking about though. Good, eh?

Jenny, while I so love reading your blog, I may have found the first thing I can't agree with or relate to--I hate those mochi ice cream. FYI, our Costco sells them in much bigger boxes. Just thought you'd wanna know!

Uh, oh. I think I know where my boy and I are heading after he wakes up from his nap.

I love Trader Joe's. I'll have to look for your "favorite snack" and give them a try.
Thanks,
Cas

I'm on my way to Trader Joe's as soon as possible to try those little snacks. How bad could they be - if they're small.

Good golly I saw that I'm on the list! Thanks so much. I lurve me a good curry, and am currently working on finding a family member to come pick me up so I don't crash the minivan on the way home.

Better have my dh send a company-wide memo: increase orders for all the frozen mochi thingies, and beware of rabid blog-induced craving mamas!

For those of us uninitiated in the ways of such compulsive behavior - can you at least tell us what they taste like?

One of the reasons we bought our house here in LA is that it is almost within walking distance of the Traders.
I'm looking forward to meeting you at BlogHer. I will be leading the design seminar.

The nice thing about binging at Trader Joe's is that it's virtually guilt-free. They sell *healthy* food there.
