I Have Turned A Corner

Good God. I am a froofy coffee drinking person.

*hanging my head*

Oh, I thought my flirtations with the PSL were harmless. I could quit. I would quit. I was in control.

Sour Duck saw through my brave front, and tagged my caffiene-addled ass. Still, I indulged. I never got behind the wheel...of my bike. Couldn't steer my awesome bike and sip PSL. I just don't have the mad bike skills for that at this point. Something to strive for, I suppose. However, I located a drive-thru 'bucks and did engage in some operating of heavy machinery under the influence of crack.

CRACK, I SAY! Because I couldn't stop. I just kept getting the urge. And I kept getting gift cards from people. You people with your gift cards! Pushers! Enablers! (I love gift cards! I love people who give me gift cards!)

Certainly, I never put my children in jeopardy with my PSL drinking. Well, except for when I had a few too many PSLs before the parent teacher conference and acted twitchy and immature. But that's not really dangerous. Just unfortunate.

Ahem.

A Sunday came where I had a venti PSL in the morning, and followed it up with a venti PSF in the afternoon, and that, my friends, is when I admitted to myself that I had a problem. I freakin' knew that the biggest cup in the land was called "venti" and I didn't bat an eye at ordering it, despite the word "venti" making me cringe.

I though that I could just give up the PSL. I decided to break the cycle of addiction, and transferred my affection to the Gingerbread Latte. It didn't hold my love, and I moved restlessly from the Gingerbread to the Eggnog to the Peppermint Mocha. I tried to forget the Pumpkin Spice Latte. "EL" just didn't work for me. I tried calling it "ENL." No. "PM? PMM? GL? GBL?" It just didn't trip lightly off my tongue.

Then came pneumonia. And the sinus infection that rendered my tastebuds irrelevant. I was on the wagon. One cup of my "coffee that feels as good as it tastes" in the morning, and I was goooood.

And then I got an email from Starbucks.

"Come try our Cinnamon Dolce Latte!"

And I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks, Carmen. (Pusher!)

Yeah, I marched right up to the counter, acting all coy. "Oh! A new latte? Oh, I think I'll just have a regular OH MY GOD JUST GIVE ME A VENTI CINNA-WHATCHA-LATTE-THINGIE!" The barista acted casual, like she's used to people combusting in front of her, dissolved resolve puddling on the counter. She picks up a cup and scrawls "CDL" and then surrounds it with a heart.

CDL, people. It works. Oh yeah. It works.

Cinnamon Dolce Latte? Oh, it just sounds like heaven, doesn't it? I must get to Starbucks tomorrow and sample this new crack, um, I mean, latte. Of course, I'll be blaming you for my addiction. You understand, right?

The only reason I didn't get that very thing a few minutes ago was that the line was too long. I've not had one, but I think I'm heading straight there in the morning on your advice.

I have resisted the urge, but I can NO LONGER HOLD BACK FROM THE RECOMMENDING!

Tall Ristretto Americano (with room for cream)... There's no "stuff" in it, but I can't have stuff in it! I'm from Kona, for crying out loud. There was a coffee plantation next door to my house. I think I may have been drinking coffee as an infant, from a bottle.

Besides, it takes less time for them to prepare (caffeine faster!) and way less calories, so you can drink, like THREE TIMES AS MANY! Whee!

What does this mean that I don't understand? You know I get that crazy venti cup of xtra xtra xtra xtra everything with xtra goo every morning?? So what's the problem here? Is that why I'm still awake???

k - LOVE those gingerbread latte's!! I order them with half the syrup so less fat!! and less sweet! to me it is perfect that way! less guilt!! more latte's!

I am not much of a coffee drinker. Even with 7 years of college I just don't care that much for it HOWEVER Cinnamon Dolce Latte sounds really, really good. Starbucks are starting to pop up all over this side of town and I received a $10 gift card so I may have to just give it a try...

You're done for, now. Actually, the only thing keeping me from your fate is the baby's intolerance to dairy. Once she weans though... I'm in deep trouble.

OMG! I tried one yesterday! It's like a warm cinnamon roll flavored coffee. Sweet. Fabulous aroma. YUMMY!

The only thing that saved me from trying the cinnamon latte is my allergy to cinnamon.

Right now, on the losing weight kick, I'm drinking a grande skim vanilla latte. Drinkable, but NOT as good as the other stuff.

Glad you got to use the card!

I just saw an ad for CDL and I'm so excited to try it. The Bux has me wrapped around it's pinkie finger.

I've been dyiiiing to try the CDl!!!

Had one today and I have to say that this was the first coffee that I have been able to drink the entire cup. The first sip was absolute heaven (Grace summed it up perfectly "It's like a warm cinnamon roll flavored coffee." I can't believe I am saying this but I may just have to get another one (especially since I still have moola on my 'Bucks card)

Have had two of these and they are indeed heavenly. Love the "froofy coffee drinking person" label. :D

Will have to try the "Ristretto Americano" that Jennifer recommends... I do that Safeway deal where the 7th cup is free (the lure of the free cup keeps me going).

OMG!! I was in LOVE with the Pumpkin Spice Latte but they took it away from me!! I died. But THEN I came back after a sample of the Cinnamon Dolce Latte. I was in love all over again. In fact, I have my precious latte right in front of me. And the good thing is, it's not just a holiday drink. WE WILL NEVER BE APART!

And I thought I was alone...
