Vacation's All I Ever Wanted

Well, hello! I've arrived! Orlando is lovely. Orlando Bloom is lovely, you're right, but I'm actually talking about Orlando, Florida. I'm on a crappy dial-up connection, and even that is lovely. Can you tell I'm drinking a beer and it's like 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I smell like chlorine and tortilla chips?

I needed a vacation in a bad way, and look at me! I'm vacationing! Whee! I've got a few play-by-play entries over at Big Slice - go read my account of wrestling with an alligator and all about our flight!

I'm also happy to report that both of my children survived an entire school year and will be moving on up - HOLY MOLY. I am the parent of a first grader, a second grader and a soon-to-be preschooler. I might actually have a linear thought someday, uninterrupted by the need for a juice box or a new diaper. Can you smell that? The sweet smell of freedom? For at least a few hours a week?

We're headed to The Happiest Mofo Place on Earth tomorrow, or at least one of the Kingdoms of Happy. Any recommendations of things we must do and see while we are here?

This connection makes my gmail load unbearably slow. I'll be answering emails when and if I get to a higher-speed connection.

Stay tuned for The Lauck Vacation Excitement and Photo Extravaganza.

I'm only an hour away from you in Tampa! Hope you didn't get the rain that we were blessed with today.

I was at the happiest mofo place on earth last year (7 months pregnant) but only having a 4 yr old girl at that point, we spent 99% of our time in Fantasyland pursuing princesses and mermaids.

That said, the only thing I recommend is the show in front of Cinderella's castle. It's quite the extravaganza and all the kids seemed happily mesmerized by it.

Have a fantabulous vacation!

Hi! I read your blog frequently, and I'm so glad you are down in one of my favorite places!

Check out Magic Kingdom - there are many rides for you and your kids, along with neat shows, like Philharmagic. do NOT miss MGM Studios. They have great rides (Star Wars) and neat things to see, like Playhouse Disney, lots of characters (check out the daily guide as to when and where each day - you get those in the park) and GREAT restaurants. Make reservations. A cool parade of characters @5:30pm each day. Animal Kingdom has a great Lion King show a bunch of times a day AND.... check out Epcot. The flowers are beautiful, and there are MANY things to see, do and eat. There is a race track, lots of cool shows, and great "countries" to check out.

I have 3 children - 4, 3 and almost 2, and we go to Disney at least once a year. Email me if you need more ideas!

Lee-Ann

The Peter Pan ride is a favorite.

Jenny! We're in Florida, too! South of Tampa, waiting for Tropical Storm Alberto to turn into a hurricane! My kids are DYING to evacuate. Apparently they think that's the same as riding Space Mountain.

If we have to leave, can I come stay with you? I'll bring tortilla chips . . .

NASA is totally worth the drive. Epcot was a total yawnfest while we were there. Animal Kingdom, the safari ride - totally cool.

Have a blast!!

Hello, Michele sent me.

Oh how I envy you. I need a vacation. Enjoy your time away.

Ohhhh I LOVE Disney. I had a year pass when I lived in FL. I miss it now. Have loads of fun. The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are my favorites.

We just came back from WDW - my son is 6. You guys are going to have a blast!

Use the Fastpass machines when you can - it saves you a ton of time !!

Magic Kingdom - Don't miss Buzz Lightyear - we rode it 3 times. If you like Pineapple - get the Dole Whip outside Adventureland. Don't miss Tom Sawyer's Island ! Warning: Stitch's Great Escape is scary for little ones as 95% of it is in complete darkness.

Epcot - Soarin' was our absolute favorite ride of the entire trip!, and Turtle Talk with Crush is cute. Go to the UK's toystore to meet Pooh and friends and then grab fish & chips (and Beer) at the Rose & Crown pub. The different countries are lit up beautifully at night! Don't pass up the Margarita cart just outside Mexico - fabulous 5 layered frozen margaritas.

Animal Kingdom - Pocahontas show, Safari tour, Lion King

MGM Studios - Who wants to be a Millionaire, The Muppet Show, Indiana Jones, Fantasmic. Hint: when we were there they had the 5 or 6 Power Rangers for meet and greet (was Incredibles the week prior) but they each had their own line - my hubby waited in one line while we waited in another and we kept hopping from one to another and managed to JUST get all their autographs ! Look for Kim Possible w/Ron Stoppable in an alley on the Streets of NY !

We preferred Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach because of the sand and the pool of sharks you can swim with.

If you want to try any character meals or shows I can highly recommend Chef Mickey's breakfast buffet. We LOVED the Hoop De Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness - loads of fun, very interactive and tons of delicious food.

We can't wait to go back :) ENJOY !!

Drink one (or two or three) for me.. And hopefully I, too - can someday have a linear thought!!

Can't wait for fun stories and pics!

Go to the Hoop De Doo Revue for dinner, a great family dinner show. And if you want to head off the reservation, my son loves a trip to Medieval Times, right nearby. Your girls might prefer Arabian Nights (another dinner show with horses like Medieval Times) with a princess, Arabian horses with flowing manes...

I'm so jealous! We wanted to go to Disney World this year but my sons weren't having any of it - they don't want to see Minnie Mouse or Snow White anymore; they much prefer girls in bikinis on the beach. (Me, I still have a thing for Donald Duck.)
