It's Back, And Better Than Ever
Ladies and Gentlemen... school. has. started.
*insert the roar of an enthusiastic crowd*

Because I'm a slacker, I actually wrote up a morning schedule to keep us all on track. It goes a little something like this:
6:30 wake up
6:45 breakfast
7:00 get dressed
7:15 brush hair and teeth
7:25 pack lunches
7:45 walk out the door
Now, I suppose normal families don't need a freakin' schedule for these things, but I am always running late. And this way, my children, who have developed into quite the little bossy britches over the summer, can keep things moving.
Take driving, for example. My oldest is all about the speed limit. She is a stickler for The Law. I am glad, and will be sure to remind her when she is 16. Also, I'm going to stop making rules and suggestions, and just bust out some Law around here.
Anyway, back to the schedule...it totally worked this morning. Let's not declare a victory until I actually manage for a few weeks, but I'm feeling pretty darn smart right about now.
After forcing the children to pose by the tree (must check and see if Mindy did the same pose today) I loaded the smallest Circus child into the stroller and leashed the dog for the walk to school. We met up with our friends and had a great walk to the campus.
After kisses and quick photos at the classrooms, (I had to surpress the urge to high five the teachers) I did some wild spinning and laller lallering around the campus. Then I lined up all the other parents and ran back and forth while they did the wave. I popped into the multi-purpose room to look at the sobbing kindergarten parents and see if I could conjure a similar emotion. Nope! And then I finished with some Riverdancing in the parking lot.
So, yeah... another school year has begun, and I'm pretty excited. For the kids, of course. It's all about the kids.

Yay for new school clothes, freshly sharpened pencils, and the promise of autumn! (P.S. I hate it when my kids harass me about the speed limit. Party Poopers.)

I am totally stealing your schedule when my kid starts school next week. :) OMG, I just realized that I'm never going to get to sleep in again.

Have I told you lately that your kids are freaking gorgeous? Because they are.
Congratulations on making it through the summer!

At our grade school in Indianapolis, when the busses pulled away on the last day before summer break, the teachers did a kick line. I always feel like doing that when the bus pulls away at the start of the school year.

The never-ending selfless love of a mother can have no counterfeit. I am so glad that you are so happy for them and I wish you a riverdancing good time this whole year.

Did your littlest one start school, too? Because my 3 y/o doesn't start preschool till after Labor Day. The other two started Monday so Bug is PISSED!
Also...can you teach me to Riverdance?

My Dad always says that it takes 3 weeks to make a habit and quadruple that to kick one... especially if it's bad.
I'm good about starting "good habits" which then slide into the abyss of "bad".
Good luck. :-)

That's it - you have killed me this time.

Oh my heck...I've gots to get me that cutie pie red dress your girlie is wearing.
Congratulations and enjoy the solitude. You should pose yourself by the tree with a big ol' honkin' daiquiri and a sombrero. And balloons.

Yep, I'm right there with ya! My oldest started back to school yesterday, my 2 younger kiddos went back today. Hallelujah!!!!! My next door neighbor cried as her oldest got on the bus for the first time (he has always attended private school up until now), but the rest of the parents at the bus stop were laughing, clapping, dancing, hugging...it was great!!!!

wow- you got the kids to pose, and they all look so cute. I will be trying that next week. Three out of four start on Monday. I am ready to send them off, just not ready to be up and put so early.

This is an entry for your classics. Most definitely.
Also? I have 3 weeks to go still. I'm green with envy.

What happened to summer this year?

Counting down the days still . . .
I told my husband what I am really looking forward to is a year from now when I have TWO of my knuckleheads in school and just one at home - another FOUR until they are all boarding the big yellow bus. I have no idea what quiet is or what a lazy cup of coffee tastes like, but I'm holding out!
PS - what a cute red dress! (of course your munchkins are adorable too!)

All three of my daughters began school on Monday. So what did I do with all my incredibly free time? I STARTED SCHOOL AS WELL!
Still, I get Fridays off and they don't. Nyah-nyah!! Today, I have ALL DAMN DAY to do whatever I would like to. Have breakfast at 9AM? Yes. Have an 'adult beverage' before noon? You betcha! Whay, you ask? Just because I can, THAT'S WHY!

Yippie for all of you!!!! (and they are just gorgeous children)

mmm...school. School starts in about...32 hours. Not that I'm counting. ;)
I have that exact same picture of my kids in front of our tree. It's a good first day of school picture spot.
Oh, and I make schedules like that. I made my kids start going to sleep at a normal time again about a week ago, and now I'm worried that I'll forget to set my alarm. I sometimes think my (almost) ten-year-old is more responsible for us getting out the door on time.
I like your blog - I'll be sure to come back by!

Normal families DO need schedules to keep them on track. In fact, ever watch Super Nanny? That's one of the first things she does when helping someone! :)
Wish school was starting around here, but preschool doesn't start until September 11, and DH goes back to his school (leaving me alone with all five of them) tomorrow. AAAaaack!
