Now With Tigers!

We've added a new family member:

Because having three wild children and a crazy dog isn't enough for this mama. No, we needed to add a feline division.

We adopted her on Sunday. She came with the name "Audrey" - which I thought was pretty cute. Alas, my oldest took matters into her own hands again, and has named the poor kitty. Her name is Kimo. Which sounds like chemo. My husband suggested a middle name of therapy, but was treated to a blank stare from the kids. I smirked, a little.

Apparently, Kimo is a nickname - her full name is Kiwi Molly.

I tried to tell her that naming loved ones after fruit is trendy and so last year, but she was adament. I pity my future grandchildren. Maybe she's getting it out of her system now. Alas.

Donna the dog is not sure what to make of this interloper. She's pretty uninterested in the cat, but the cat is all about asserting Her Rights. We see a lot of this:

She's settled down a bit over the last few days. She's happy to stalk around the house and has no problem going right into the center of Donna Territory. Should Donna happen to make eye-contact, Kimo immediately starts hissing and spitting. This is not unlike the reaction of my three-year-old to her siblings. So we're good.

Roar.

Congratulations!
Welcome home, Kiwi Molly.

Aw! Cute kitty!

Welcome Kimo! We are adopting a cat this week as well. He is coming all the way from Canada to be with us. My husband constantly complains about my giant dog, I thought a cat would be a good way to round things off. Really, I need another task and expense.***
;)

What a cutie. Now you'll have even more poop to clean up!

Seriously, as much as I adore my kitty, if she dies I don't know that we'll get another for a while. I'm just so done with poop that isn't mine.

But she looks to cute to have obnoxious poop. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

YEAH! I love the kitties. Oh, I so do. I'm so happy for you guys. And Sybil is, too.

I'm such a cat lover. I'm just glad though that we didn't have to move to NYC with cats... they would have lasted a minute before jumping out the window.

Pretty kitty. Good luck with her.

We adopted a 100+ pound year old dog a few years ago. His name was also Kemo. He was named after a ski resort (Okemo). I was uncomfortable with his name, and always called this giant dog, Kimmie. He didn't mind.

You are one brave mama. And nice, too! I must admit that cat is a cutie, but the thought of adding "clean litter box" to my list of chores that include "change one kid's poopy diaper" and "wipe other kid's poopy bottom" makes me want to run screaming down the street.

My 2 1/2 yo doesn't like the name Kimo -
she says it should be named Stripey Cat.

Just so ya know. Heh.

Awww. Cute kitty. I acquired my cat through my college roommate. We went and got the cat and brought her to our apartment with the understanding that it would be my roommate's cat. The cat had fleas so we had to get rid of those, then it had earmites...

We named it Fartbrain at first but then decided that it probably wasn't the best name, so I suggested Chat, which is French for cat. (And pronounced like Sha.)

I have the cat now due to unforeseen circumstances. Can't imagine life without her now...since she's 10 years old now.

Kimo is adorable! And cats are so much more self-sufficient than dogs, which is great with kids. You just have to remember to feed them once in awhile. (The cats, not the kids . . . well, actually both.)

Now you just need a pet mouse and then you could have a complete food chain in your house.
