Poke Me In The Eye

Somebody help me. The kids have discovered Pokemon.

I was sure that I could prevent it somehow. I blame it on the other parents who allow their children to learn about these things. (Cough) No, I'm pretty sure they come about it organically since their father loves him some fantasy battle action, in a non-threatening card form. Aggression from him is a blatant snapping of a card corner as he lays down a new card.

Whatever, card snapper.

So, in a way, I guess it isn't all bad. I should clarify that I haven't actually bought any cards for them as of yet. They are basing their play on what they've overheard.

Scene: The hallway, late afternoon.

Daughter: I summon a blah blah blah.
Son: Wait, what does a blah blah blah do?
Daughter: I'm not really sure. But Whaaaaaaam!
Son: Oh. I summon a blah de blah.
Daughter: There's no such thing as a blah de blah.
Son: Mom! She says there is no such thing as a blah de blah.
Mom: ????
Daughter: Mom!
Son: Mom!
Mom: I summon you to the dinner table.

Hah. I win.

All those card game things are the biggest waste of money ever! Every time I find a card in a couch cushion or whatever, I throw it out. Dylan never misses it.

Welcome to my nightmare! Three of them, we have THREE of the evil beasts all of whom alternate between Pokemon and Yugioh and Runescape discussions.

It drives me insane!

Well in that case, you definitely don't want to read this: http://blog.tystoybox.com/20061006/pokemon-learning-league-seeking-recruits/

*ducking*

I had no idea that stuff was even still around! Maybe it will be gone by the time Faith is old enough to care. But I doubt it. I had the same hopes for The Wiggles - only to have them smashed.

Thank goodness they have not appeared in my house yet. Do you think it is just a boy thing?

Hee, hee. Welcome. (At least it's not Yugioh). You'll never understand what the heck they are talking about again. BTW trading cards are good. They are small. No more asking for the big honking toys that fit on no shelf ever invented.

oh Lord, the Pokemon are still out there? have some fun with that. thankfully my youngest by passed Pokemon obsession of the older 2, but i think that's because he was around when they went through it.

YES! Mine have discovered Pokemon too! And the worst thing about it is, I can't get the friggin theme song out of my head. I was actually singing it even before I read your post!

One of these days I'm going to have to secretly record my boys and their friends playing "characters". You should hear them argue about what the made-up rules are for the made-up characters in the made-up game. "You can't have both unlimited strength AND invincibility!! That's not FAIR!!"

when they get older they can come over and play magik the gathering with me. i like those card games!
but, yeah, the pokemon ones for litttle kids are kinda boring for adults.
