Planet Earth
Did anyone else watch the Discovery Channel's series Planet Earth last night?
I only got about 45 minutes into the three hours that my trusty TiVo has saved so far, but I was really blown away by the amazing cinematography and the sheer "ooooh!" factor that kept my husband and I rewinding and replaying.
First of all, I'm glad that humans haven't specialized into those freaky displays performed by those birds.
Or have they? I've seen some pretty odd displays from people trying to hook up, now that I think about it.
And the expression on the nursing polar bear mama's face was so familiar to me - probably because I know what it feels like to be used like the world's largest feeding station.
And the sharks leaping clear of the water and eating seals in one bite! Awesome! I'm never going in the water again!
I can't wait to get started on the next installment.

Man, I totally missed it. I'd been enjoying the ads all week and then BAM! bedtime rolls around and my husband is all cranky and there goes the show. Maybe I'll finally break down and pick up one of those TiVos all the kids are talking about.

I TOTALLY DVR'ed the whole 3 hours! I am hoping to use it to augment my Things' science classes (since we homeschool).
And the shark was SOOOO COOL! But my daughter was a little sad to see the baby cariboo lose the race...

I know those crazy birds! I kept watching them flash their feathers and wondered where their heads were. And those polar bear cubs climbing up the hill looked just like my toddler on two legs, using their front legs to hoist themselves up. But what about those crazy African dogs that could hunt in packs... why are they bordering on extinct, they seem brilliant. I was simply amazed. I can't wait to watch the next ones on my TiVo.

They're replaying the episodes from Sunday night right now (Monday) and I'm taping them for the kids. I know this kind of program will keep them GLUED and QUIET when I need to get something done. It was an AWESOME couple hours!

All I can say is WOW!! This is the best programing I have seen on Discovery in quite a while. I have watched all 3, and actually watched the deep ocean one again last night, dispite having that alarm set for 6:30!! Too Cool!!
