And...Action!
So, I'm sitting here in my kitchen, checking email and stalling on making dinner, when my three wee heathens go screaming by the back door, waving their arms overhead and flailing their legs out to the sides. It is a wonder they don't fall over - I swear to you that each of them maybe had one toe in contact with the ground at any given moment. I caught the action out of the side of my eyes.
Argh! Eeeeeeeee! Woooooo! *pinwheeling limbs*
They disappeared around the corner of the house, and I typed another sentence. The patter of footsteps and banshee yells announced their return. They thundered by, a cartoon-like cloud of dust surrounding the fray as they bounded across the deck, arms still flailing, mouths still yelling, feet still making a ton of noise for never touching the ground.
I returned my eyes to my email. Again with the screaming and running. Seriously, it looked like one of those cartoon-scrums, where you can see individual arms and legs, and assorted symbols billowing from a cloud of dust.
I stuck my head out the door.
"What are you guys doing?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing!" they all shouted.
I returned to the computer. They waited until my attention was lifted, and took off again in their cloud.
The next pass, my son was charging with a 4-foot long bamboo pole, my eight-year old was clutching a giant rubber ball, and my youngest was spinning in circles and speaking in tongues. They paused as they entered my field of vision, waved, and then went right back into it.
I didn't even ask. I don't need to know.

Hey, as long as they're not launching grenades, no use in mucking up their fun.

It usually goes that there's no reason to worry unless there's total silence!

Aren't kids funny? I guess what they were doing was kind of private.

Sometimes, it's just better not to know.

Wait! It just occurred to me that they may be practicing systematic desensitization. See, they're gearing up for the BIG deal and need to know you won't be paying attention when it happens.
Now, if only we can figure out what the "BIG deal" is, you may have a chance of thwarting their evil plan.

Sometimes less is more -- like less information means more sanity on your part.

I went on my very first mom's day out this weekend and it was more than I imagined it could be! I didn't get peed or snotted on once! I did come home right in the middle of a child tornado not unlike the one you described, but it was ok. Mom days rock!

I'm always suspicious when I get the "nothing". It can't be good.
