A Little Mania Would Be Good

Ever have one of those weeks where there simply isn't enough hours in the day or night to put all of your ducks in a row?

Do you even have ducks?

Lemme tell you, I'm surrounded by quacking, and ducks aren't exactly the easiest thing to herd into a line.

And...that ends our abstract question and conjecturing interlude for this week.

What I'm trying to say here is that life is speeding along, and I'm working killer hours, trying to whip my house into shape, ferrying the kids from point a to point b and back again on my "breaks" and wondering when the snot and sore throats are going away.

QUACK, QUACK, QUACK.

I've been trying to improve my lot in life by listening to a subliminal learning thingie about overcoming procrastination while I do my bedtime routine. Is it helping? I don't know. I'm doing more, now. Not putting it off, unless it is the right time to put it off, and then I wait. Do it now. Now. Now is good. Later is not as good, except for when it is better and then it is fine. But only if it is best.

That's pretty much the text of the subliminal thing, I think. There's that, and then some crashing waves and "nature sounds" and frankly, all the crap coming my way makes me feel kind of manic.

And you know, with all this stuff going on, maybe a little mania would be good. Just a little manic episode. One where I'm all about disinfecting stuff and organizing my inbox. Yes!

I wonder what would happen if I listened to it while I was working. I bet all the ocean sounds would make me have to pee 500 times. GO NOW! NOW IS GOOD!

This week, my oldest started going to Sylvan Learning Center. I've joined the ranks of parents who would rather pay someone else to drill math facts with their kids, and I'm totally fine with it. She loves it, because they reward them with toys and stuff from the Sylvan Store. I asked her "What did you do today?" and she said "I chose a lipgloss and a necklace!" So clearly we are getting a good value!

Seriously, though, I'm really glad we made the decision to intervene now. Now is good! She's one of those kids that is right on the margin between getting it and not getting it. With elementary school math accelerating into harder and harder concepts, I figure we had better give her a really solid foundation. She's very bright, but like to take her time with things, and I think that math is just one of those subjects where her confidence is low.

Yay for lipgloss motivation!

It's time to help with homework and put the kids into bed before tackling the pile of unfinished dishes and laundry. If I can just stay on my feet for the next few hours, I'll get it done before I totally quack.

My ducks are overtaking me too. They're out of control, running amok, feathers flying and they're pooping in my house and on my head (or maybe that was cat poop I picked up this morning)...

hahahaha
now! now would be good. . .

you're funny, lady!

xoxo

quack quack... plenty of ducks at my house. And they are wandering everywhere! Not a line in sight! Darn ducks...
