That Sound You Heard

That sound was me, doing my best Braveheart.

FRRRRRRRRRREEEEEDOM!

Minus the blue face paint and drawn and quartering parts. Maybe plus the kilt-lifted butt-smacking. Maybe.

The kids are back in scho-ool, the kids are back in scho-ool, the kids are back in scho-oooooooool....

And I'm happy enough to race into the street discharging weapons towards the heavens and screaming I-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi!

The big storm, which, despite my flippant reaction, knocked a skylight off my parents' roof and caused our power to be out for 16 hours, still didn't cause that much chaos. Once the power was good and out, I took the kids around the corner to the store and bought a case of presto-logs and some cup-o-noodles and some juice boxes. And then we came home and lit a fire and stared at each other for a few minutes.

Then the kids started to occupy each other with taunting, so I headed back to see if I couldn't get some work done.

That sound you heard was me pleading with my dialup connection to just go for the love of Pete before my laptop battery totally emptied. Another sound you might have heard was my children destroying the inside of my van while we sat in a downpour with the engine running so that I could "borrow" McDonald's WiFi and use my car battery to charge my laptop battery and cell phone.

That was so much fun! I'm so sorry you all had to miss that!

But now, glorious now, happy, happy now... the kids are back in scho-ool, the kids are back in scho-ool...

Tomorrow! Tomorrow school starts again! TOMORROW!!
The little one is already back in Kindergarten, for his own good! Oh yes.
FRRRRRRRRRREEEEEDOM!!!

I am glad you are all fine; i.e., you and the 3 circus kids survived and you get, I mean, they get to go to school (no, I really mean You get to have them go to school, but I'll pretend). I felt the same way this morning -- Yea -- you guys get to go to school (and then hallelujah, I "got" to take a nap).

*Giggles* I've been playing catch-up on reading blogs over the past few days because I didn't have a chance over the couple weeks before.

And guess what? I think every mommy blogger out there and every blogger that doesn't even necessarily focus on kids/family, but has them anyway.....blogged about how the kids were finally back in school and how wonderful it was. I love it, hehe.
