Maybe I'm Getting Better At This
Today I:
- woke up at 4 am to deal with two feverish kids.
- started my workday at 5 am
- made three different breakfasts three hours apart
- managed a conference call and a whole bunch of email before my first "break"
- I cooked two varieties of soup on my "break"
- Folded two loads of laundry while cooking soup.
- Gave everyone doses of medicine, cleaned up spilled juice
- Still managed to deal with most of my inbox.
Yesterday, I left my youngest at home with the hubs, and took my son and oldest daughter to visit my newly arrived cousin and her daughter. This was the first time my kids had met my cousin, and the two girls were instantly smitten. Within minutes, they had disappeared out into the backyard to swing on the rope swing and climb the apple trees, and I had the chance to catch up with my cousin.
Later on, my sister joined us, and we all visited and giggled and laughed. It was great to see them - while I saw them briefly last year in Hawaii at my brother's wedding, it had been almost 15 years prior to that. The family resemblance is not so much physical, but it is hilarious how my cousin, my sister and I all have very similar senses of humor. I pity the fool who runs aground in our paths.
I snuck home mid-afternoon, leaving my son and daughter to play and eat dinner. I returned home to find my youngest had been asleep for 6 hours, and was burning up with fever. Considering that my children practically share each other's skin, it was no surprise that all three were burning hot this morning.
Aside from complaining of major headaches and being super-hot, they seem to be okay. They are still eating and drinking, and we only had one incident with puke.
All the sheets are changed. All the blankets are fresh. The house is quiet, and I think I'm going to go curl up in my bed and sneak a few winks before the next dose of medicine is due.

How nice to have a blog to go with the name I see in the emails from BlogHer :)
Such memories. My children are all but grown. My youngest is nearly 16. I do remember the angst of finding out they were ill, having less than pleasant "gifts" coming from both ends, and having to hold them over the bathtub while their dad sprayed them off. Poor sweeties!
Smart woman to take those few winks...

Oh, I feel for you. My husband is sick, and I just got done dealing with a sick teen. I feel pretty good (knock on wood). Maybe I should go to bed early and take a vitamin C.
