Shuffling off to Buffalo

For some unknown reason, I've been losing weight the last month or two. I would love to claim responsibility for this fortuitous circumstance, but the reality is I've sort-of been too busy to eat very much.

The busy continues, the small, infrequent meals continue, and who knows? Maybe I'll lose a few more pounds. Maybe I'll even get serious and do something other than play Wii Fit.

The hubs and I are going on a cruise to Mexico for our anniversary this year. 10 years, three kids, and a whole bunch of busy have kept us from really celebrating. We never even did a honeymoon, what with me three months pregnant and mean. Those ladies that glow and exude loveliness and maternal glory?

No. Not me.

Anyway, with a quick glance at my calendar, I see that I'm like two and a half weeks before school starts for the year. My kids will be in fourth grade, third grade and (dun dun duuuhhhhhn) kindergarten. All three of my kids will be in school from 8 am until 2:30 pm and I'm going to be completely at a loss.

Ha! Did you spot that lie? I know exactly what I'm going to be doing! You won't find me making snacks and mediating fights! I'm going to be Shuffling off to Buffalo, baby. I'm going to be the star of my own show! I'm going to Get Things Done.

This, of course, depends on whether I manage to stay focused. The kids are a great stimulant, and I'm thinking that it might become very tempting to curl up in my bed for a few hours after unleashing the wee beasties on the public school system. But no! I will not.

I do think I need to have some sort of exercise program to put the "uh uh" in the Junk in my Trunk.

This is the part of the year where I vow to walk the kids to school each way every day, and blah blah blah right. I mean, I think I walked them to school four times last year. I live less than a mile from the school, and I work from home. I have no excuses! None! Except that we can never find shoes.

Wow, look at this, I'm working myself up into a bit of an exercise-idea frenzy. Maybe it's time to for me to get out the iGallop. Or to coat myself in Jiggle Gel. Who's with me?

Comments

This made me laugh out loud for several reasons. First of all, I completely understand the need to work on my junkage. Secondly, the hubs and I are going to Mexico in September, with a much younger couple. Yep....she's small, cute and childless. This only means she hasn't gone through the had a baby (or two/three) body morph. I hate her. On the other hand, I LOVE your blog. I'll be back.

ah yes - I will also be starring in my own show - at least 3 mornings a week (8:30 - 12) when the youngest is at preschool and the other two will be in 1st and 3rd... I don't know if I will sit on the couch, or lay in bed, sit on the couch or lay in bed....

Actually, 8:30 to noon (OK, with driving it's more like 9 to 11:30) is not all that much time, but - My. Youngest. Will. Be. Giving. Hell. To. Somebody. Else... for 12 hours of the week - instead of me!

What the heck? Why are your kids going back to school so soon?
