They look fast, and that is what counts
I have ridiculous feet.
I didn't always have ridiculous feet, but carrying three kids in my belly, plus the indignities heaped on by nearing 40 and being overweight for the last 13 years has really done a number on them. They've grown two and a half sizes, reject my beloved cheap shoes, and swell when I travel or sit too much. My heels ache from the downward pressure of my rather plush rear and my arches, always high, have combined with my swelling to make most heels and Mary Janes painful.
I am a woman who loves her some Mary Janes.
Anyway, these ridiculous feet of mine are going to carry my plush rear on a friggin 5k this spring, so, I treated my high-arched, supinating, swelling jerks of feet to a new pair of running shoes. After gagging over the price a bit, (and I got them on a good sale) I wore them around the house today. And I also wore them to the mall, and to the grocery store.
They are all light and zippy feeling, which is great. They totally can handle a 5k. Of course, sitting here admiring my feet while blogging isn't going to get me to the finish line, and realistically, I will probably be super slow, but my shoes make me look like I could be fast. Hee!
I want to point out that this is not MY resolution, but my daughter's. She wants to improved her time running a mile, and I figure I should be able to run at least a mile at some point. My new shoes are all "yeah, I already ran a mile. And now I am blogging, for a cool down."

Woohoo! I love running. You'll have a crazy sense of accomplishment when you cross that finish line. :-)
